Test Management
If
a new system is introduced and software is implemented this has to
be tested. Although this is obvious for most of us the efforts for testing
are underestimated regularly. One reason for this is the assumption that the
software is standard software and has already been tested. Or testing only
includes specific test types, e.g. functional tests where it is clear that
they have to be done but other less obvious test types like regression tests
are not done.
The creation of a comprehensive test concept is often part of a larger project, e.g. as a work package in a global ERP template initiative. Tests in such a project are done in various phases. In the early phases the focus of the tests in on individual functionalities. In later phases tests span complete processes. For illustration of the various test types the so-called V-model is used frequently.
Test
management cannot be managed in isolation as there are several dependencies
from other topics. For executing tests you need systems and test data. Testers
must be trained. Test documents must be created and depending on the industry
you have further requirements concerning the required documentation and proofs
that tests have been done. This increases the complexity of this topic and
companies introduce specific tools to support testing activities and make them
more efficient. It is of paramount importance for a successful test that testers
do not only know what to test but also know how to test. A good test concept
must address this point and include trainings for testing.
In the appended document you will find more details for the service „Test Management“. This service addresses the most important aspects that have to be included in the development of a comprehensive test concept. Even if you already have a test concept there are often aspects that are missing or not implemented efficiently. This service can also help you in such situations.
